The Airborne Toxic Event Lyrics: Echo Park

Unreleased
Lyrics by Mikel Jollett

Echo Park

Aw fuck, I gotta get my head together, just give me some time to catch my breath. Oh, and the rest of you guys, I’ll just meet you, my head is just a wreck. I just don’t have nothing left. I get lost here in my car. I just don’t have no damn respect. I’m always wondering where you are… like, right now. I mean, I wonder where you are… like right now. Ah man, fuck!

She says she wants to start again, and she says that she has just been wasting time. Now, I wish I could disagree; you know, I wish that she wasn’t always on my mind. ‘Cause everything feels like a waste of breath, like the ashes from some cigarette you’ve already smoked. Now I tried to make a brand new start with her last night in Echo Park, and I choked… well, I choked.

I mean, I wonder where you are, like right now. Oh, like right now.

    Hello

I’m so happy that you’ve taken the time to compile all these lyrics together! I don’t know which recording you’re using for this transcription, but the one I listen to is from this link:

In which Mikel sings, “I get lost here in my car.” At least that’s how I’ve been hearing it. If you have another link or even a studio recording I’d be very interested in hearing it myself (-:

    Keep up the good work!

I think I hear a hint of the The Violent Femmes in this song- with the characteristic talk/singing that lags from the music. Instead of sounding purely Femmes, they added Airborne-style melody and I think it just makes this song Kick-Ass.
